Sustainable L‐Cysteine Functionalized Silver Nanoparticles with Dual Biomedical and Catalytic Functions

Abstract This study reports the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using Boerhavia diffusa (BD) leaf extract, followed by functionalization with L‐Cysteine to form L‐Cys‐BD‐AgNPs nanoconjugates. Structural and surface analyses confirmed the formation of well‐dispersed crystalline Ag silver nanoparticles, capped by plant‐derived biomolecules and stabilized by L‐Cysteine. The nanoconjugates demonstrated strong antibacterial activity, potent antioxidant and anticancer effects, and efficient catalytic degradation of organic dyes. These findings highlight the novelty of combining plant‐mediated synthesis with amino acid functionalization to enhance stability and multifunctionality, making L‐Cys‐BD‐AgNPs promising candidates for future biomedical and environmental applications.
