Psychological factors as predictors of increased risk of hypertension in cardiovascular diseases — mini review

Cardiovascular diseases remain the dominant cause of death worldwide. Psychological factors play an important role in the pathogenesis of psychosomatic diseases, also involving the cardiovascular system. This article conducts a literature review, focusing on the importance of psychological factors as possible predictors of hypertension in cardiovascular disease. The authors emphasize the importance of implementing comprehensive therapeutic interventions, which are both pharmacotherapy and psychological therapy in the broadest sense. Psychoeducation, which allows for expanding the knowledge of hypertension, as well as the impact of the regulation of emotions on blood pressure values in hypertensive patients, can contribute to the development of more effective methods of prevention and treatment of hypertension.
