Real and non-real eigenvalues of regular indefinite Sturm–Liouville problems

Abstract In this paper, we study the regular Sturm–Liouville problems with discontinuous boundary conditions and a weight function which changes sign. We show that the algebraic and geometric multiplicities of the real eigenvalues are the same for some classes of problems. And then the sufficient condition for the existence and exact number of non-real eigenvalues for the problems is obtained.
