Enhanced production of dimethyl carbonate from the alternating polarity electrolysis of methanol and carbon dioxide
Alternating polarity enhanced redox-neutral electrochemical formation of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) from CO 2 and methanol. Alternating the polarity was found to be necessary for efficient reoxidation of Pd 0 → Pd 2+ thus enabling higher yields of DMC.
