Every Person by Name: An Inclusive History Conversation Between Past And Present

Abstract: In summer 2022, Agnes Scott College received a three-year grant from the Mellon Foundation for the Every Person By Name project. The initiative aimed to explore the college’s history by uncovering under-told stories to promote lasting change for students, staff, and faculty. Using oral history methods and archival research, student researchers sought to present an accurate and nuanced view of the college’s past and present. This reflexive essay combines the project’s findings with reflections from student researchers. This student-centric format showcases how projects highlighting inclusive history positively impact the future of college communities.
