Dispersant‐Assisted Synthesis of High‐Nickel Single‐Crystal NCM via Taylor–Couette Flow Coprecipitation
Nickel–cobalt–manganese (NCM) cathode materials have received significant attention in the lithium‐ion battery field because of their high energy density and compositional flexibility. Among them, nickel‐rich compositions deliver higher capacity but suffer from thermal instability and interfacial degradation. In this study, single‐crystal LiNi 0.7 Co 0.2 Mn 0.1 O 2 (NCM721) was synthesized via Taylor–Couette flow‐assisted coprecipitation, employing polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and sodium metasilicate (Na 2 SiO 3 ) as dispersants. This approach yielded dense nanosheet‐structured precursors, promoting the formation of high‐integrity single crystals. The resulting material exhibited an initial discharge capacity of 184.8 mAh g −1 , about 12 mAh g −1 higher than the sample without dispersants, and retained 93.3% capacity over 100 cycles at 0.5 C. This study demonstrates that dispersant‐assisted precursor engineering, coupled with hydrodynamic control, is an effective strategy to realize robust and high‐performance Ni‐rich single‐crystal cathodes for advanced LIBs.
