Terahertz graphene absorber based on simulation work

This work presents a terahertz broadband tunable absorber based on a monolayer graphene structure. The proposed absorber achieves an average absorption rate of 92.13% across the 0.966–4.011[Formula: see text]THz frequency range, with a perfect absorption rate of 99.52% at 3.038[Formula: see text]THz. We calculated the relative impedance of the absorber within the operational frequency range, demonstrating its broad absorption spectrum. The physical mechanisms behind the device’s absorption were elucidated by analyzing the electric field distribution both inside and outside the absorber. Furthermore, by adjusting the structural parameters, the physical adjustability of this device is demonstrated. This indicates that it has a certain tolerance for manufacturing deviations. We also demonstrated the dynamic tunability of the absorption spectrum by varying the Fermi energy of the graphene. Finally, the electromagnetic response of the absorber to external waves at different incidence angles is studied, which emphasizes its potential application. Overall, the proposed absorber shows great promise for terahertz detection, stealth applications and provides valuable insights for the design of optoelectronic devices.
