Health-related quality of life after HPB surgery
The study by Ekström et al [1] recently published in Surgery Open Science reports on prospective assessment of patient’s health-related quality of life after hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery. This topic is of significance given rising proportion of elderly patient population, importance patient selection for major HPB resections, and consideration for patient’s overall health related quality of life and well-being after recovery from surgery. The study included 101 patients who were prospectively recruited in this health related quality of life trial evaluating preoperative and postoperative measures using a validated EQ-5D survey tool.
