Resolution of Epidermal Inclusion Cyst through Homeopathic Treatment: An Evidence-Based Case Report
Abstract Epidermal inclusion cysts are common benign skin lesions primarily managed through surgical excision, with limited exploration of noninvasive approaches like homeopathy. These cysts predominantly affect men in the third and fourth decades of life and rarely undergo malignant transformation. The prevalence is estimated at 5 per 1,000 individuals. A 50-year-old man presented with a painless, mobile, nontender cystic swelling in the left axilla persisting for 25 years, measuring approximately the size of a lemon. Clinical and radiological findings confirmed an epidermal inclusion cyst. The patient received Thuja occidentalis 1M at periodic intervals in an outpatient setting. Over 6 months, significant improvement was observed, culminating in complete resolution of the cyst. This case illustrates the successful use of homeopathy in managing an epidermal inclusion cyst, highlighting its potential as a nonsurgical treatment option.
