Stability of Iprodione in AOT-Based Microemulsions under Alkaline Conditions
This study focuses on evaluating the effect of AOT/isooctane/water microemulsions on the stability of 3-(3,5-dichlorophenyl)-N-isopropyl-2,4-dioxoimidazolidine-1-carboxamide (iprodione, IP) in basic media. The presence of these microheterogeneous systems leads to a significant modification of iprodione hydrolysis with increasing surfactant concentration and water contain in the microemulsion. These results were compared with data from other colloidal aggregates and xenobiotic compounds. In addition, it has been observed that the presence of such restricted aqueous environments in natural systems, including watersheds and wastewaters, could significantly modify the half-life of iprodione.
