Electrochemical Cp 2 Fe-Catalyzed Diazidation of Alkenes

A safe, effective, and eco-friendly electrochemical method for diazidating alkenes with TMSN3 was created, which can be carried out smoothly with Cp2Fe as the catalyst, affording a series of vicinal diazide products with excellent substrate scope compatibility. The late-stage functionalization of biologically active compounds, half-gram-scale experiments, and synthetic transformations additionally highlight the synthetic potential of this protocol. Moreover, mechanism studies show that Cp2Fe was oxidized by the anode and then promoted the single electron transfer of N3- to release the azidyl radical (N3●).
