New analgesics in oncology. Tafalgin employed as an alternative to opioid analgesics
The publication presents data on new analgesics that could serve as an alternative to opioids, having a comparable analgesic effect, but with a lower risk of serious adverse events. Tafalgin is a selective agonist of the m1-opioid receptors, due to which it has a decend analgetic effect comparable to opioid analgesics with a more favorable safety profile, which has been demonstrated both in clinical studies and in real clinical practice. Tafalgin has been introduced into clinical practice relatively recently, so there are few publications revealing the specifics of its use in various clinical situations. The presented clinical observation describes the possibility of taking Tafalgin not only as a drug for the treatment of acute or breakthrough pain, but also as a basic analgesic for intensity pain syndromes, especially in situations where taking opioid analgesics is undesirable or impossible for any reason.
