upset.hp: An R Package for Visualizing Hierarchical Partitioning and Variance Partitioning Results Using UpSet Plots
Traditional Venn diagrams become increasingly complex and difficult to interpret when visualizing the intersections of more than four variables or variable groups. The UpSet plot, a matrix-based, data-driven visualization technique, offers a scalable and more readable alternative for representing complex set intersections. The upset.hp R package, newly released in 2025, extends the capabilities of the previously developed UpSetVP package by providing a unified visualization tool compatible with the full suite of hp-series packages developed for hierarchical and variation partitioning, including rdacca.hp, glmm.hp, gam.hp, and phylolm.hp.
