Designing Public Parks to Enhance Quality of Life: A Case Study of Al-Eskan Park in Buraydah City

Public parks are essential elements for improving the quality of life, as they contribute to enhancing psychological comfort and creating spaces for social interaction. As the Kingdom moves towards achieving the goals of Vision 2030, the growth of green spaces, and the increasing interest of community members in public parks. However, many parks still lack a design that meets the needs of visitors, which calls for studies to understand the desires and behavior of park-goers. This study focused on Al-Eskan Park as a case study, employing a mixed-methods approach that included observation and surveys of 34 participants from various age groups. The findings revealed that well-designed parks enhance visitors' experiences: 58.8% indicated that they felt safe during their visit, and 73.5% confirmed that green spaces, such as trees and plants, enhance their comfort and happiness. As well as 65% indicated that they visit the park with their family, reflecting its role in strengthening family cohesion. 32.4% also expressed their satisfaction with the facilities, and 52.9% preferred large green spaces with fewer pathways. These findings emphasize the importance of designing parks that meet the needs of visitors to enhance quality of life and social interaction.
