Pristine and Copper‐Doped ZnS Nanoparticles Capped with Aloe vera Leaf Extract for Enhanced Antibacterial Applications

Abstract Bacterial infection imperilling human health and influencing various sectors becomes a worldwide challenge. Doping with transition metals via biogenic synthesis is one of the peculiar ways seeking wide attention owing to their long‐term stable antibacterial activity. In the present work, the pristine zinc sulphide (ZnS) and copper doped zinc sulphide (Cu‐ZnS) nanoparticles are solvothermally synthesized by utilizing the capping potential of Aloe vera leaf extract. The clusters of aggregated nanoparticles with average particle size varies from 3–20 nm are scanned by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR‐TEM). The in vitro antibacterial tests are performed using well diffusion method against the gram‐negative and gram‐positive bacterial species. The calculated minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) varied from 25 to 175µg/mL. Owing to the efficacy and stability of nanoparticles by the synergy of A. vera extract and copper doping, they can be further used for future alternative antibacterial agents.
