Case report of seminal vesicle schwannoma with synchronous prostate cancer
Seminal vesicle schwannomas are rare entities, reported in only a handful of cases since 2002. These benign neoplasms originate from the peripheral nerve sheath and are typically found incidentally on imaging or during the workup of nonspecific urologic symptoms. The case presented here describes the incidental finding of a seminal vesicle schwannoma, initially believed to be "acute seminal vesiculitis" during a gross hematuria evaluation. The patient was diagnosed with synchronous prostate cancer for which he underwent open radical retropubic prostatectomy, with excision of bilateral seminal vesicles, resulting in the diagnosis of seminal vesicle schwannoma on final pathology review.
