Heterogeneous Catalysis of Aza‐Markovnikov Addition Reactions by Transition Metal Acetates Immobilized on Poly(1‐vinylazoles)

Abstract The catalytic activity of acetates of various transition metals (Zn 2+ , Mn 2+ , Co 2+ , Ni 2+ , and Cu 2+ ) on poly(1‐vinylazole) carriers was studied in regard to the addition reaction of vinyl acetates via aza‐Markovnikov mechanism. The aza‐Markovnikov adducts not only exhibit significant biological activity, but the reaction products additionally serve as crucial intermediates in the synthesis of an important class of compounds, such as 1‐vinylazoles. The studied transition metals‐ poly(1‐vinylazole) complexes demonstrated notable catalytic activity, as the aza‐Markovnikov reactions in polymeric substrates proceed at room temperature (20–25 °C) under static conditions and give products with 65%–85% yields. The studied systems exhibit prolonged stability, can be easily separated from the reagents and reaction products for further reuse.
