Recent Advances in Hierarchically Multiphase State Organic Axially Chiral Circularly Polarized Phosphorescent Materials
Organic circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) systems have potential applications in the fields of information display and anticounterfeiting, information encryption, and bio/optoelectronic devices. Especially, organic axially chiral circularly polarized phosphorescent (AC–CPP) materials are born with triple inherent specialties of phosphorescence, axial skeleton, and CPL. The physical and chemical properties of the AC–CPP materials strongly rely on multiphase states at different scales, including macroscale, molecule-scale, and micro/nanoscale. Especially, five typical condensed state AC–CPP materials in the form of molecule-scale condensed or isolated states, including small-molecule crystalline state, small-molecule host–guest doping state, polymer host–guest doping state, copolymer state, and defined dispersed-pyrolysis state, were mainly classified and reviewed. The corresponding dissymmetry factors, luminescence mechanisms, applications, challenges, and future trends of the organic AC–CPP materials were discussed and prospected.
