Modeling of Dynamic Heterogeneity of Plastic Flow in Magnesium
The molecular dynamics method is used to detail the features of the heterogeneous plastic flow of hexagonal magnesium and the evolution of the dislocation density of magnesium single crystals of hard and soft orientations during compression deformation. Dislocation plasticity at the atomic level is compared with the theoretical equations of dislocation density evolution valid at the macroscopic level. The classical Orowan–Taylor dislocation plasticity equation is verified at the atomic level.
