Evaluating the potential of CsBiSCl 2 as a solar absorber

CsBiSCl 2 was reported to achieve >10% efficiency in solar cells, but the crystal structure is unknown. Here, we find that the previously-proposed perovskite structure is unstable, while the lowest-energy structure for CsBiSCl 2 is still metastable.

Abstract

CsBiSCl 2 was reported to achieve >10% efficiency in solar cells, but the crystal structure is unknown. Here, we find that the previously-proposed perovskite structure is unstable, while the lowest-energy structure for CsBiSCl 2 is still metastable.
