A Novel Quadratic High Step‐Up DC–DC Converter With Low Switch Voltage Stress and Soft Switching
ABSTRACT In this paper, a novel quadratic high step‐up DC–DC converter with low switch voltage stress and soft switching is presented. The overall circuit architecture is designed based on the quadratic boost converter. Its equivalent circuit path is as two boost converters being cascaded, so the circuit can effectively increase the voltage gain. A pair of coupling inductors is added next to the main switch path. The two coupled inductors can store and release energy in the same operating mode, thereby achieving the quasi‐interleaved functionality to reduce the input current ripple and disperse the input current stress. A clamping circuit and voltage multiplier cell are added to the middle of the circuit to make the proposed circuit own a much higher (about 11%–33% increment) voltage gain. Using the clamping capacitor and coupling inductor can perform zero‐voltage switching (ZVS) of the main switch and auxiliary switch, thereby reducing the power loss caused by the main switch and the auxiliary switch to achieve the highest efficiency of 95.8%. In addition, the coupling inductor value does not need to be too large to achieve zero voltage switching; therefore, it can reduce the size of the converter.
