Soybean Dwarf Virus
Abstract Luteovirus glycinis is a plant RNA virus that exerts various effects on legume crops, depending on the strain, geographical region, and environmental conditions. Although the full impact of the virus on diverse crops is still largely unknown, it has led to severe outbreaks in soybean in Japan and subterranean clover in Australia, leading to substantial yield losses. Given the high prevalence of the virus in other legumes, such as clover species, pest management strategies have been necessitated, mainly through monitoring of virus vectors – specifically aphid species that transmit the pathogen to crops. This review examines the virus characteristics, hosts and vectors, as well as its economic significance and current state of research. Information © The Author 2025.
