Hexagon plate-shaped Co(OH)2 nanozyme for the detection of multiple targets
Nanozymes have been widely used in sensing due to the on-demand design, simple preparation, good stability and high catalytic activity. In this paper, a Co(OH) 2 nanozyme exhibiting peroxidase-like activity was prepared and applied to detection of hydrogen peroxide, glucose and ascorbic acid. The nanozyme was prepared by simple hydrothermal reaction at 200 °C for 6 h using cobalt nitrate and sodium hydroxide. The hexagon plate shape of the nanozyme was characterized by SEM, TEM, AFM, etc. The peroxidase-like activity of the Co(OH) 2 nanozyme is induced by the produced hydroxyl radicals in the presence of Co(OH) 2 and H 2 O 2 , which turned colorless TMB blue. The absorbance was thus increased. On the basis of the absorbance variation, determination methods for H 2 O 2 , glucose, and ascorbic acid were founded with respective LOD of 29 μM, 35 μM and 13 μM. Real-sample tests demonstrated the practicability of the nanozyme. In summary, the hexagon plate-shaped Co(OH) 2 nanozyme shows excellent peroxidase-like activity and great potential in the detection of hydrogen peroxide, glucose and ascorbic acid in real samples. • A hexagon plate-shaped Co(OH) 2 nanozyme was prepared by a simple hydrothermal method and detailed characterized. • The Co(OH) 2 exhibited peroxidase-like activity due to the production of hydroxyl radicals in the presence of H 2 O 2 . • The Co(OH) 2 nanozyme show potential in real sample analysis which was proved by detection of targets in injection or beverage.
