Improved the performance of automotive forklift lead-acid battery using a novel charging algorithm
This paper presents a novel, patented charging algorithm designed to rejuvenate lead-acid batteries used in industrial forklifts. Unlike conventional methods, the algorithm applies a feedback-driven, pulse-based charging process that reverses hard sulfation and restores cell balance without chemical additives. Experimental validation on a 12-cell, 620 Ah battery showed significant improvements: internal resistance decreased by an average of 57.4 %, specific gravity rose by 3.75 %, open-circuit voltage increased by 12 %, and on-load voltage improved by 3.8 %. These results confirm the algorithm's effectiveness in extending battery lifespan and enhancing operational efficiency in demanding industrial settings.
