Development of organometallic single-crystal scintillators with CuI clusters and 18-crown-6 ether–alkali metal complexes

Organometallic single-crystal scintillators with copper-iodide clusters and 18-crown-6 ether–alkali metal complexes were synthesized. (18-crown-6) 2 Na 2 (H 2 O) 3 Cu 4 I 6 showed the highest light yield of 59 000 photons per MeV upon 137 Cs γ-ray irradiation.

Abstract

Organometallic single-crystal scintillators with copper-iodide clusters and 18-crown-6 ether–alkali metal complexes were synthesized. (18-crown-6) 2 Na 2 (H 2 O) 3 Cu 4 I 6 showed the highest light yield of 59 000 photons per MeV upon 137 Cs γ-ray irradiation.
