Intraocular Relapse as Initial Manifestation in Pediatric Acute Myeloid Leukemia after Stem Cell Transplant: A Case Report

We present a rare case of intraocular relapse as the first manifestation of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) recurrence in a pediatric patient, occurring 6 months after haploidentical peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (PBSCT). The patient was successfully treated with intravitreal methotrexate (MTX) and systemic reinduction chemotherapy, followed by a second haploidentical PBSCT, achieving sustained complete remission. This case highlights the importance of regular ophthalmic examinations during post-transplant follow-up, as early ocular symptoms can indicate AML recurrence.
