Optimization of Stress Distribution and Structural Integrity of Composite Rib
ABSTRACT Composite materials, known for their exceptional strength‐to‐weight ratio and design flexibility, enable the creation of complex structures with integrated cut‐outs for weight reduction without compromising structural integrity. However, these cut‐outs can introduce high‐stress concentration zones, potentially leading to failure. To mitigate this risk, strategically placed holes are introduced to redistribute stress effectively, enhancing structural performance. This study investigates the influence of fiber orientation (along the x and y axes), varying hole diameters, and diverse stacking configurations on the stress distribution and mechanical behavior of composite wing ribs. The findings underscore the critical role of fiber alignment and stacking sequences in optimizing load‐bearing capacity and structural resilience.
