Evaluating cloud computing technology in library and information science professionals of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar university, Lucknow

Purpose The study investigated the awareness, benefits, satisfaction, and challenges associated with the use of cloud computing technology among research scholars (n = 37) and library staff (n = 12) at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow, India. Methodology The study used a descriptive survey method, including a total of 49 library professionals from the university. A total enumeration sampling method was employed, and data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The data were analysed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS (version 20), with statistical tests including descriptive analysis, the Chi-square test, and independent sample t-tests. Results and Conclusions The finding indicates that overall, a high level of 97.9% respondents reported being aware of cloud computing, with a research scholars 97.2% reported, while all library staff reported 100% were aware. Further recognised research scholars’ major benefits, such as user satisfaction (M = 2.00), data loss prevention (M = 2.00), and reliability and security (M = 2.32). However, the library staff put an extreme value on user satisfaction (M = 3.08), limitless storage capacity (M = 3.16), and reliability and security (M = 3.16). and challenges faced by both are technological and infrastructural, with a priority on security and financial concerns; both also highlighted deficiencies in financing, training, and expertise.
