Quantitative Determination of Candesartan Macromolecules Using the Fourth Order Derivative Absorption Spectra Method

ABSTRACT Candesartan (CAND) was successfully estimated using the fourth derivative method of absorption spectra by analyzing the four‐fold derivative of the baseline spectrum. The wavelengths of CAND were scanned in the range of 200–400 nm, revealing a maximum absorption peak at 254 nm for concentrations between 25 and 200 µg/mL. This was achieved by transferring 0.25 to 2 mL of a 1000 µg/mL working solution into a series of 10 mL volumetric vials, which were then filled to the mark with 99% ethanol. The correlation coefficient was found to be 0.9989, while the detection limit was 0.101842 µg/mL, and the estimation limit was 0.339474 µg/mL. The molar absorption coefficient was calculated to be 5857.985 L/mol.cm, and the Sandell coefficient was measured at 0.075188 mg/cm 2 . The recovery percentage (Rec%) values ranged from 97.28% to 104.53%, with relative standard deviation (RSD%) values between 1.2476% and 2.0119%.
