The nature of excited states in QCD
In our quest to understand nonperturbative QCD, baryon spectroscopy plays a vital role. In particular, we need to understand whether observed resonances are best identified as three-quark states or whether they are dynamically generated. There is some confusion about how one might distinguish these cases. We address these questions using selected states with masses below 2[Formula: see text]GeV as prime examples.
