An Improved Cascaded Boost Topology According to the Voltage Lift Technique With Low Voltage Stress of Components

This paper proposes a new non-isolated DC-DC converter according to the use of cascaded boost topology, and diode-capacitor voltage multiplier cell. The bold points of the proposed topology are as: i) the input current is continuous, which decreases the current stress of the input filter; ii) the topology of the converter has a switch with a simple drive circuit; iii) the voltage stress of the semiconductors are less than the provided voltage at the output with a far difference; iv) the current stresses are less the input current with a far difference; v) the output voltage is applied to stacked-capacitors, which decreases their voltage stresses; vi) most of the capacitors perform in two procedures, which stands from an optimal design; vii) the common ground of the load and source is present and EMI noises are negligible; viii) only two inductors are used in the power circuit which provides a low mass and volume and high power density; ix) the voltage gain can be more than 10 times in low duty cycles. The experimental results of the proposed topology are for a 720 V output voltage, 20 V input voltage, and a 150 W output power.
