Counterions manage metal-to-metal electron transfer: the role of intermolecular interactions in MMET-active [Fe 4 Co 4 ] cubes
A counterion strategy was used to synthesize [Fe 4 Co 4 ] cubes (1·BF4, 2·ClO4, 3·PF6, 4·AsF6, and 5·SbF6) with tunable intermolecular interactions. This tunes coordination geometry and the metal center electrostatics, modulating the MMET behavior.
