Optimal planning of hybrid hydrogen-to-power system using bi-layer decomposition algorithm
Hydrogen-to-power (H2P) system is a critical part of hydrogen energy storage applied in power systems with high renewable energy penetration. The single H2P device is limited in power output and conversion efficiency. A wider power output range of HH2P (HH2P) system can enrich the application scenarios of hydrogen energy storage and provide flexible and reliable energy scheduling in larger and more complex energy systems. In this paper, a power system model including traditional units, renewable energy generation and HH2P system is established. A bi-layer HH2P system optimal planning model is constructed with a bi-layer decomposition algorithm. The planning model and its solution method are verified in IEEE RTS-96. The results show that the HH2P system reduces the renewables accommodation rate by 55.67% and the load shedding rate by 18.24%.
