Fast calculation method of SVPWM voltage harmonics for EVs traction motors based on frequency spectral positioning method

The study proposes a fast calculation method for SVPWM voltage harmonics in three-phase inverters used in EV traction system, balancing computational efficiency and accuracy. Traditional methods are computationally intensive, while simplified approaches often sacrifice precision. The proposed method uses spectral positioning to reduce complexity, achieving a 5.47% relative error in total harmonic distortion (THD) compared to SIMULINK results. Computational time is reduced to 0.52 s (vs. 2.96 s for traditional methods) with a 0.03% threshold. Validation through simulation model shows a 0.40% error in winding losses between calculated and simulated harmonics, which confirms the method’s effectiveness for rapid, accurate harmonic analysis, making it suitable for iterative design and real-time applications in electric vehicle drive systems.
