Using EEA air pollution exposure and census data to identify local and regional inequalities
Abstract While the EEA has for several years published interpolated maps of key air pollutants like fine particles, nitrogen oxides and ozone at a fine level of 1 x 1 km, only recently have gridded population and socioeconomic data from EUROSTAT become available at the same level of granularity. This has opened the door to unprecedented opportunities to analyze inequalities in air pollution exposure across Europe. This presentation will look at the main results and methodological challenges of this line of work at the EEA.
