Anchoring Floating Wind Turbines

Floating wind technology allows harnessing wind energy resources in deeper waters where traditional fixed-bottom turbines are not feasible, opening up vast new areas for renewable energy generation. According to the Global Wind Energy Council, approximately 80 percent of the technically extractable global offshore wind potential lies in water depths greater than 60 m, which is where fixed offshore wind installations become uneconomical.

Abstract

Floating wind technology allows harnessing wind energy resources in deeper waters where traditional fixed-bottom turbines are not feasible, opening up vast new areas for renewable energy generation. According to the Global Wind Energy Council, approximately 80 percent of the technically extractable global offshore wind potential lies in water depths greater than 60 m, which is where fixed offshore wind installations become uneconomical.
