Green Synthesis and Characterization of MgO Nanosheets Using the Macromolecules in the Pomegranate Extract
ABSTRACT This research includes the use of plant extract (containing many macromolecules) of pomegranate peel waste in the preparation of nano magnesium oxide using a one‐pot method as a fast and cheap method, thereby reducing the cost of preparing nano materials. Nanomagnesium oxide was characterized by UV–vis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The results of X‐ray diffraction tests proved that magnesium oxide was prepared with high purity, and Scherrer calculations proved that magnesium oxide was approximately 28 nm in size. Moreover, this research adds other rich information about the nanostructure, as the results proved that nano magnesium oxide sheets were obtained as a unique and new nanostructure for nano magnesium oxide, which plays a role in improving its reactivity and other properties.
