The Reconstruction of Seokwangsa Temple through Royal Patronage in the Late Joseon Dynasty

This article examines the royal family's sponsorship and reconstruction of Seokwangsa Temple in the late Joseon Dynasty, focusing on Geumseokmun. Seokwangsa Temple had a deep relationship with the royal family during the Joseon Dynasty, especially Sukjong, Yeongjo, and Jeongjo, who sponsored a lot in the name of inheriting the legacy of King Taejo. Several gold stone gate materials related to Seokwangsa Temple remain in Korean research institutes, including the National Museum of Korea. These golden stone gates were created from the 18th and 20th centuries, and are important data to examine the relationship between Seokwangsa Temple and the royal family, as well as the facts that are not recorded in historical literature.
