Persistent Luminescence Ratiometric Thermometry at the Nanoscale (Advanced Optical Materials 30/2025)
A PersL-Based Nanothermometer A persistent luminescence (PersL)-based nanothermometer is developed, characterized by a core-shell nanostructure of NaYF4:Er3+@NaYF4 with an average size of ∼16.5 nm. It exhibits hour-long green PersL upon X-ray charging. At the PersL stage, the intensity ratio of 2H11/2→4I15/2 to 4S3/2→4I15/2 transitions of Er3+ can be used to monitor temperature changes, thus holding significant potential for diverse applications, such as intracellular temperature sensing.
