Evaluating the efficiency of investment in olive cultivation in North Sinai Governorate تقييم كفاءة الاستثمار في زراعة الزيتون بمحافظة شمال سيناء
The research aims to evaluate the efficiency of investment in olive farms according to farm production capacities in North Sinai Governorate. To achieve its objectives, the research relied on two types of data: the first: secondary data, and the second: primary data from a stratified random sample of approximately 117 individuals from Bir al-Abd Center, North Sinai Governorate. The research also relied on descriptive and quantitative statistical analysis methods, using mathematical formulas for the discounted project metrics. The results of the evaluation indicators for the small, medium, and large categories showed that the internal rate of return for olive farms during the productive life was approximately 26, 37.38 and 33%, respectively. The benefit-cost ratio of the olive farm over its productive lifespan was approximately 1.37, 1.61, and 1.41 L.E, respectively. This means that every 1 pound invested in the olive farm yields total returns of approximately 1.37, 1.61, and 1.41 L.E, and net returns of approximately 0.37, 0.61, and 0.41 L.E, respectively. This indicates the feasibility of investing in olive farms. The net present wealth index of the olive farm over its productive lifespan was approximately 35.66, 300.23, and 270.07 thousand L.E, respectively. The capital turnover index of the farm over its productive lifespan was approximately 3.88, 2.68, and 3.03 years, respectively. The study recommends encouraging farmers to increase the area planted with olive crops to increase investment efficiency, especially in the medium-sized farm category, with an average of 3.12 feddan.
