Structural Optimization of the Arc Extinguishing Chamber of HSS Based on IPO-ELM and NSGA-III
Introduction: DC high-speed switch (HSS) is the key equipment of the multi-terminal flexible DC transmission system, and the electric field characteristics of the arc extinguishing chamber of HSS are an important factor affecting its safe and stable operation. Therefore, in this paper, the structure of the interrupter chamber is optimized to reduce the electric field generated by the opening current, thereby improving its working efficiency and service life. Method: This paper proposed a method based on the optimization of important structural parameters of the interrupter chamber using the IPO-improved ELM model in combination with NSGA- III. An IPO-ELM model with fillet radius at the end of dynamic and static contacts as inputs, and the maximum value of electric field intensity and electric field inhomogeneity in the sub-regions on both sides of dynamic and static contacts as outputs, is developed. This model is optimized using NSGA-III. Results: When the structural parameters of arc extinguishing chamber r1 is 13mm, r2 is 15mm, r3 is 7mm, and r4 is 28mm, the electric field distribution and the insulation performance of arc extinguishing chamber are significantly improved. Discussion: The structural parameters and electric field distribution before and after optimization are in line with the curvature radius effect and the regional coupling effect of the electric field. Conclusion: The study demonstrates that the IPO-ELM model can accurately predict the electric field distribution of the arc extinguishing chamber of HSS, and the NSGA-III algorithm is highly efficient for multi-objective optimization of the model.
