Modeling of a hybrid concentrated solar photovoltaic thermal – thermoelectric generator collector with vapor absorption refrigeration system at different constant collection temperatures

Abstract This communication presents a performance analysis of a fully covered hybrid CPC‐SPVT‐TEG collector integrated with a VAR system (case 1). The hybrid collector operates in constant collection temperature mode, providing heated water at four different constant collection temperatures (CCTs) of 323, 333, 343, and 353 K to the VAR system. The analysis employs a thermal model and a 3‐layered Feed Forward Network – Artificial Neural Network (FFN‐ANN) model to evaluate the system at these CCTs. The study investigates the effect of different CCTs on the coefficient of performance (COP) of the VAR system. Additionally, a performance comparison between the proposed system (case 1) and 3 other configurations: a partially covered CPC‐SPVT‐TEG collector + VAR system (case 2), a fully covered CPC‐SPVT collector + VAR system (case 3), and a CPC water collector + VAR system (case 4) has also been done at CCT = 323 K. The results indicate that the COP of the VAR system in case 1 increases with higher CCTs, reaching a maximum value of 1.56 at CCT = 353 K. Both models demonstrated strong agreement, with MSE, correlation coefficient, MAPE, and MBE of 0.027, 0.999, 3.9389%, and 1.8626 × 10 (−4) respectively.
