Nasal Iodophor to Reduce Candidozyma auris Nasal Carriage in Nursing Home Residents
Candidozyma auris is an emerging drug-resistant yeast that frequently colonizes the nose. Among 27 nursing home residents, 5 days of twice-daily nasal iodophor (10% povidone iodine) reduced nasal carriage bioburden in 14 (52%), with negative posttreatment cultures in 5 (19%), providing hypothesis-generating evidence for the role of nasal decolonization in C auris prevention.
