The Green Paradox: Balancing Growth and Ecology in WAEMU and WAMZ Economies
This study examines the relationship between economic growth, energy intensity, and environmental sustainability in the WAEMU and WAMZ economies from 2002 to 2022, highlighting the role of institutional quality. The findings reveal that energy intensity worsens environmental degradation, while stronger institutions in WAEMU mitigate this effect. Policy recommendations include promoting energy efficiency, increasing renewable energy investments, strengthening governance, and encouraging sustainable urbanization to balance growth with ecological preservation.
