A Study on Consolidation of Schools and Other Public Facilities
Recently, local authorities in Japan have been urged to utilize public facilities more efficiently amid financial constraints.School facilities, in particular, are expected to be consolidated with other public facilities to serve as community hubs outside class hours.Public-private partnerships (PPP) are also gaining attention as a cost-effective management strategy. This study aimed to clarify the functional consolidation and operational methods for effective facility use.The integration of similar functions with school facilities and PPP-based operations was examined, and its financial impact was evaluated. The results reveal that consolidating public facility functions can reduce financial burdens. However, future student numbers and demand for existing public facilities should be considered.
