Structural, Morphological, Optical, and Electrochemical Properties of CoMoO4 Nanoparticles as Electrode for Supercapacitor Applications

In this study, we investigate the use of cobalt molybdate (CoMoO4) nanoparticles (NPs) as active materials for electrochemical properties. Co-precipitation method was used to produce the CoMoO4 NPs. Using Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Ultraviolet-Visible Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy (UV-DRS), and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques were examined morphological, optical, and morphological structural properties of the produced CoMoO4 NPs. XRD pattern confirmed the monoclinic structure and average crystallite size value of 16.65 nm. The appearance of the peaks at 1057, 850 cm–1, which corresponded to the Mo–O and Co–O absorption vibrations, which was confirmed by FT-IR spectra. Optical property and bandgap values of the samples was calculated using the UV-DRS, and the Eg value is 1.63 eV. SEM and TEM images confirms a spherical shape structure of the prepared samples. Cobalt molybdate electrodes were evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), along with galvanostatic charge-discharge (GCD). This cobalt molybdate possesses a current density of 1 A g–1 at a high specific capacitance of 462 F g–1 and it was 81.81% of retained after 5000 discharge-charge cycles, showing the best cyclic stability and rate capability.
