The genome sequence of the common periwinkle, Littorina littorea (Linnaeus, 1758) (Littorinimorpha: Littorinidae)
<ns3:p> We present a genome assembly from an individual <ns3:italic>Littorina littorea</ns3:italic> (common periwinkle; Mollusca; Gastropoda; Littorinimorpha; Littorinidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 849.61 megabases and 847.12 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (91.03%) is scaffolded into 17 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 16.97 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland. </ns3:p>
