SCIENCE AND LIFE (IN LIEU OF A PREFACE)

This article substantiates the need to create a new section in the journal «Scientific Notes of the Vernadsky Kazan Federal University: Philological Sciences» – «By Duty and Right of Memory». Based on the purpose of a scientific journal, it is appropriate to include in this section materials possessing two key qualities: high memorial value, and an analytical approach that allows for understanding biographical, textual, and extratextual facts within a broad historical perspective. The impetus for the creation of this new section was the intense interest in military topics in modern philology, particularly in the study of the function of the Author and the Word in information and armed conflict. However, the content of the section should extend beyond military discourse; it will include studies devoted to writers, journalists, and scholars who have made significant contributions to the development of Russian literature and philological scholarship.
