Navigating acute decompensated heart failure management: as easy as 1, 2, 3?
Acute decompensated heart failure is a leading cause of hospitalisations worldwide, carries a poor prognosis and has a high recurrence rate. Successful management can be challenging due to the interplay between the complexity of the disease, its management and individual patient characteristics. We recommend three distinct components of in-hospital management to be addressed to optimise outcomes: (i) complete decongestion; (ii) identification and treatment of precipitants and (iii) optimisation of guideline-directed medical therapy.
