What good, neuro-affirming, autism assessments look like: Best practices and key considerations
There has been a significant increase in diagnostic assessments for autism, however there is vast variability between services. NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines provide ‘good practice’ guidance for clinicians to follow. Assessments should be tailored to individual needs in a neuro-affirming manner. Reports should be written within a neuro-affirming framework. More autistic voices should be included to inform best practice.
